Abbey Wood is located in south east London. The name, Abbey Wood, is taken from the Lesnes Abbey Woods which belonged to the Lesnes Abbey in South-East London (now in ruins, but worth a sightseeing trip).
- Lesnes Abbey is also known as The Abbey of St Mary and St Thomas the Martyr at Lesnes and was founded in 1178, and then closed by Cardinal Wolsey in 1525.
- It is located in Zone 4 and Bus services are available at this station.
- The arrival of Crossrail is heralded as an opportunity to regenerate and transform the area.
